Chinese New Year is always a time to enjoy all those classic desserts! Widely regarded as a staple treat during the Dongzhi (Winter Solstice) festival, Tong Yuen traditionally symbolises family togetherness.
Besides being made with glutinous rice flour, this version of Tong Yuen has the added twist of using 3 types of nuts. Enjoy different textures with salted peanut, pistachio nut, & black sesame seed.

Ingredients
1 packet | FIGO Red Bean Tong Yuen |
---|---|
40 g | salted peanuts, crushed |
20 g | fine sugar |
10 g | black sesame seed |
50 g | pistachio nuts, crushed |
Method
- Boil FIGO Red Bean Tong Yuen according to packet instructions.
- Place the salted peanuts, black sesame seeds and pistachio nuts in 3 different bowls and divide the sugar evenly amongst the bowls. Mix.
- When the Figo Red Bean Tong Yuen is ready, drain as much water as possible using a sieve.
- Divide the tong yuen into the 3 different toppings and coat well.
- Served warm or chilled.
